Enjoy the spirit of Wimbledon with a limited-edition cream tea created by the five-star Knightsbridge hotel in partnership with interior designer Flora Soames
The Lanesborough serves up a new afternoon tea
Summer 2024 is set to be an immense season for sport: whether it’s the ongoing drama of the Euros, the highly anticipated return of the British Grand Prix or the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta. But even if sport is not exactly your cup of tea, one tends to make an exception for Wimbledon.
The Championships (as it’s officially known) is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, dating back to 1877. As well as world-class tennis action, Wimbledon is a cultural institution, and takes over the capital with a fortnight of sunshine and showers, A-list spectators and, of course, strawberries and cream.
The Lanesborough is celebrating the return of Wimbledon with a limited-edition new Wimbledon Flora Cream Tea. The pop-up (running from 1-14 July 2024) has been created in partnership with celebrated interior designer (and great-granddaughter of Winston Churchill) Flora Soames, who has recently published her first book, The One Day Box, with Rizzoli. The Cream Tea will be served exclusively in The Great Hall, the original entrance to The Lanesborough, which features magnificent artwork and interiors. Soames has created the stunning tablescape using her signature Plain Stripe fabric in Emerald.
Accompanied by a resident harpist, guests will enjoy homemade scones with Devonshire clotted cream and jam, plus strawberries and cream, tea and an exclusive Wimbledon Flora cocktail made from St-Germain elderflower liqueur, vodka, strawberry essence and mint topped off with Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut.
So don’t despair if you didn’t get hold of any tickets for this year’s tournament. An afternoon at The Lanesborough is a fantastic way to enjoy the spirit of Wimbledon in exquisite surroundings – without getting caught in the occasional downpour. What’s not to love?
The Wimbledon Flora Cream Tea at The Lanesborough is available from 1-14 July 2024 and is priced at £45 per person, including the Wimbledon Flora cocktail. Table seatings start at 12pm and the last serving is at 4pm. Book your place here.
