The most hotly anticipated hotel opening of 2024 is located in the heart of SW1X
The Emory opens in Knightsbridge
Knightsbridge is home to some of the capital’s most prestigious five-star hotels. And this spring will see the highly anticipated launch of The Emory, London’s first all-suite hotel and a welcome new addition to SW1X.
The Emory is a contemporary architectural marvel, masterminded by the late Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of RSHP architects. Design is a key component of the hotel, with each of the nine floors showcasing an aesthetic of a different interior designer, including Alexandra Champalimaud, André Fu, Pierre-Yves Rochon and Rémi Tessier. The spectacular top-floor penthouse has been designed by award-winning London-based studio Rigby & Rigby, and the remaining 60 suites are all exquisite, individually curated spaces that are made for ‘living, entertaining and unwinding’.
Aside from visionary design, hospitality is at the heart of The Emory. Foodies will already be aware of the imminent opening of the ABC Kitchens at The Emory, the latest ABC concept outpost from celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The restaurant will be open for breakfast onwards and serve an all-day menu that, for the first time, combines elements from three of Vongerichten’s New York locations for an entirely new concept. Beneath ground, visitors will find a vast wellness space set across an impressive four floors and complete with 22-metre lap pool. And on the opposite end of the hotel is the spectacular new rooftop space, designed by multi-disciplinary architecture and design studio Tessier, and described as The Emory’s “jewel in the crown”. As well as offering a 360-degree view of London, the private rooftop (exclusively for use by hotel guests) also hosts Bar 33 and The Emory Cigar Merchants.
The Emory is the latest addition to the Maybourne portfolio; its fourth London opening (which includes neighbouring hotel The Berkeley) and the sixth overall. On the launch, Maybourne CEO Gianluca Muzzi commented: ‘This is our first new London property in 50 years, and we believe it will be a truly ground-breaking new addition to our distinguished hotel family. We plan to bring the inspiration and creative energy that have made our other hotels so notable, while also making The Emory a world-class hub of art and culture. This opening further cements our vision and commitment to growing Maybourne, and heralds a bold new future for the company.’
