The best pastries in Knightsbridge
The Peach at Cédric Grolet
A master at imagining edible artworks, Cédric Grolet’s creations are almost too exquisite to eat. Make a pilgrimage to the French pâtissier’s airy, sophisticated bakery within The Berkeley hotel for the decadent Peach trompe l’œil treat which takes up to three days to make. Crafted by coating deliciously fruity peach verbena gel and cubes of fresh peach with silken verbena ganache followed by a thin, velveteen layer of white chocolate, sprayed orange, red and pink, it’s likely you’ll never look at a regular peach the same way again.

New York-style croissants at Feya
Characterised by the size, circular shape and decadent fillings, the New York-style croissants chef Zahra Khan serves at her vibrant, pastel-painted Knightsbridge café are a delectably eccentric indulgence. Available in six flavours including Mango Tango, Nutella and Matcha Lavender, each fluffy round is served with a scoop of refreshing vanilla ice cream.
Our favourite is the Dreamy Dulce, filled with rich dulce de leche ganache and topped with caramelised nuts – which happens to pair perfectly with a frothy cappuccino.

Pastéis de nata at Café de Nata
There is nothing worse than ordering a pastry only to take a bite and realise it has been sitting on the counter, growing stale since sunrise. Thankfully, the experts at Britain’s first bakery wholly dedicated to perfecting the iconic Portuguese pastéis de nata, Café de Nata, bakes them throughout the day at each one of its bright, Lisbon-inspired locations. Simple yet delicious, buttery, flaky pastry cases are filled with a delicate custard infused with cinnamon and a hint of lemon, then baked until the outer is crisp and the filling is golden. Attempting to fulfil your five a day? Try one of the strawberry, blueberry or raspberry iterations before polishing your halo.

Chocolate Eclair at Caffè Concerto
Trends come and go, but some things remain classics for a reason – and the chocolate eclair is most certainly one of them. Available at both of Caffè Concerto’s glittering Brompton Road branches, this take on the staple is one of the finest you’ll find in the city. Expect generous amounts of chocolate crème sandwiched in a featherweight golden choux bun topped with a luxurious layer of chocolate ganache and a sprinkling of chocolate curls. Beware: once you’ve devoured one, you may crave another.

Walnut butter baklava at Cafer Erol
Founded in 1807 in Istanbul, it’s safe to say those at Cafer Erol have had some time to perfect their recipes for Turkish pastries – and thank goodness, because the walnut butter baklava coming soon to its glamorous new Knightsbridge branch is as good as it gets. Made by layering forty sheets of thin filo pastry with finely ground walnuts and cinnamon before baking until golden, then soaking each bite in sugar syrup, this is one for those with a devoted sweet tooth.
