Harrods' Grade II-listed destination reopens this October with the introduction of new restaurants under internationally celebrated chefs
Harrods’ iconic Dining Hall reopens
Harrods spans an impressive 1.1 million square feet (yes, really), so to say that there’s something for everyone is quite the understatement. And whether you’re passionate about the perfume counters, like to get lost in the elegant homeware or can’t get enough of the rows and rows of designer clothing, one of Harrods’ most unmissable experiences is the expansive Food Halls.
Now there’s even more reason to pay a visit to Harrods on an empty stomach, with the highly anticipated reopening of the Dining Hall. A series of new restaurants and culinary talents have been introduced to the Dining Hall, as well as extended evening dining, live music and new cocktail creations. Here’s what you can expect:
SUSHI BY MASA
The standout addition to the Dining Hall is chef Masa’s debut restaurant outside of America. Sushi by MASA is a new concept eatery from three Michelin-starred chef Masayoshi “Masa” Takayama. The Japanese-born chef is known as the ‘father of omakase dining in the USA’ after opening Ginza Sushiko in an unassuming LA mini-mall in 1987. The restaurant quickly gained a reputation among celebrities and food purists for its omakase dining (literally translating to ‘I trust you chef’, where no menu is presented, and diners eat whatever the chef prepares on the day) and for its eye-watering prices (most of the fish was flown in from Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market). After moving to New York, Masa launched MASA, Bar MASA and Kappo Masa to international acclaim. Now the celebrated chef brings Sushi by MASA – ‘a unique omakase dining experience rooted in exceptional ingredients and thoughtful excellence’ – to Harrods as the crown jewel of its renovated Dining Hall, with an oval counter seating up to 40 guests.
KINOYA RAMEN BAR
Following phenomenal success in Dubai – where the eating concept originally started as a home supper club before being turned into a multi-award-winning restaurant – chef Neha Mishra brings Kinoya Ramen Bar to Harrods. With a focus on distinctive flavours and sustainable ingredients, Mishra’s signature dishes include shio paitan (duck ramen), wagyu tsukune and a pork bone tonkotsu ramen exclusive to Harrods.
ASSEMBLY MEZZE & SKEWERS
Masterminded by Greek-born chef Athanasios Kargatzidis (affectionately known as Chef Tommy), whose Baron is one of Lebanon’s most successful restaurants, Assembly Mezze & Skewers showcases grill and flame-cooked dishes that celebrate authentic Eastern Mediterranean cuisine with Levantine flavours. Expect upscale dishes designed for sharing.
PASTA EVANGELISTS BY PERBELLINI
The 28-seat Pasta Evangelists bar at the Dining Hall has been a fixture since it launched in 2018. Now, the London-born company has teamed up with two-Michelin starred chef Giancarlo Perbellini for an exclusive new venture. The new menu includes innovative antipasti, with dishes such as baby octopus bruschetta and burrata with charred nectarines, as well as tasty pasta dishes and decadent desserts. The tiramisù is a must.
TOM KERRIDGE’S FISH & CHIPS
Doing exactly what it says on the tin, award-winning celebrity chef Tom Kerridge’s classic British eatery at Harrods will reopen on 7 October. Specialising in Britain’s national dish, the menu features the finest ethically caught fish and seafood alongside triple-cooked chips and homemade sauces. If you’re in the mood for an elevated version, you can also add caviar and lobster thermidor.
The Dining Hall at Harrods will reopen on Saturday 7 October. Discover the menus and pre-book here.
