Capri in the City Returns to The Berkeley
This year’s edition sees the hotel collaborate with Acqua di Parma, celebrating Italy’s colourful, laid-back beach clubs with a brand-new Riviera-inspired menu of cocktails and dishes – offering Londoners the chance to live the dolce vita lifestyle in the capital.
Surrounded by lemon trees, guests arrive via lift, discovering a sun-bathed mural by Italian artist Chiara Perano along the way, inspired by the blues of the pool and greens of the park. Once outside, unrivalled views of Hyde Park and the London skyline await, along with the option to book a table or take a striped lounger, cocktail in hand.
On the drinks menu, highlights include the Capri Negroni – a refreshing take on the classic with citrus notes, blending O’ndina gin, Amalfi lemon, Campari, dry vermouth, chamomile and fig leaf – and the signature Granita della Casa, a revitalising mix of Aperol, freshly squeezed Amalfi lemon juice and sugar, complete with freshly shaved ice. Celebrated spritzes, craft beers and wines will also feature.
A poolside pizza oven will serve up Parma ham with rocket and parmesan, and artichokes with anchovies and Taggiasca olives. Generous sharing platters celebrate the best of Italian produce – homemade rosemary focaccia, Calabria anchovy fillets, mortadella and prosciutto – alongside paccheri with clams, mussels and crab, and small plates of marinated octopus and classic panzanella. For something sweet, a generous tiramisu for two or Amalfi lemon sorbet served in a lemon, complete with a drop of limoncello on the side.
The Berkeley Rooftop Bar is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday from 7.30pm. Sun loungers are available for walk-ins and tables can be booked in advance.
