Championing an affordable concept that prioritises sleep, Zedwell opens its latest London hotel just steps away from Harrods and Hyde Park
Check In, Switch Off: Zedwell Arrives In Knightsbridge With Pioneering Sleep-Focused Hotel
We all know that a good night’s sleep is key to maintaining optimal health. Yet, according to The Sleep Manifesto 2024 from The Sleep Charity, a third of people report that poor sleep stems from their environment. That’s where Zedwell – a pioneering lifestyle hotel brand from Criterion Hospitality – steps in with a concept designed entirely around rest.
Zedwell has just opened its fourth London property in the heart of Knightsbridge, marking a significant step in the brand’s UK expansion. Located in the iconic Scotch House building, Zedwell Knightsbridge is a reimagined, affordable, sleep-centric destination that delivers “calm amidst the chaos” just moments from Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Hyde Park and the newly redeveloped Sloane Street.
Designed to offer a peaceful urban retreat, Zedwell’s signature “cocoons” feature windowless, soundproofed spaces, purified air, circadian rhythm-based ambient lighting, and luxury Hypnos mattresses. These cocoons are engineered to help guests switch off completely – recharging the body and mind so you can feel refreshed to explore the city.
Located within one of London’s busiest commercial and cultural districts, the hotel also offers proximity to South Kensington’s world-renowned museums and office spaces, making it a practical choice for both leisure and business travellers. From Alba Ristorante, led by executive chef Stefano Tortelli, to the new Japanese café CLAP KA-FE, the surrounding neighbourhood offers an abundance of dining and cultural experiences.
Inside the hotel, details such as lavender, rosemary and bergamot scents and a rain shower that remembers your preferred temperature further reinforce the focus on rest. Sustainability is also at the heart of the project – from engineered water-saving systems and wooden key cards to cocoons crafted from sustainable oak. The hotel itself is a revitalised site, having transformed the former retail building into a modern hospitality space without demolition – demonstrating an environmentally conscious and responsible approach by repurposing rather than rebuilding.
Zedwell Knightsbridge is part of Criterion’s bold plan to deliver 8,500 rooms across the UK by 2028, with new Zedwell locations planned for the City of London, York, Manchester and Edinburgh. Each site is chosen for accessibility and high footfall – Knightsbridge alone sees over 37 million visitors annually – while maintaining Zedwell’s promise of affordability and smart design.
Halima Aziz, Head of Hotels at Criterion, says: “With Zedwell Knightsbridge, we’re excited to offer an elevated guest experience, offering the opportunity to recharge and enjoy everything this iconic neighbourhood has to offer. We’ve revitalised the historic Scotch House into a calming retreat for modern travellers – right in the centre of one of London’s most vibrant districts. Beyond great sleep, we’re proud to have strong consumer partnerships with transport providers like Toot Bus and Uber Boats, West End ticket companies, restaurants, cafés and more to help our guests experience the very best of the city – effortlessly and affordably.”
Whether you’re here to explore world-class shopping, soak up some culture or simply rest and reset, Zedwell Knightsbridge offers a true sleep oasis in the centre of it all.
