Harrods’ historic and glamorous restaurant is currently offering a special afternoon tea inspired by the Year of the Horse
Try The Georgian’s new Spring Festival Afternoon Tea
It’s hard to imagine that there’s a restaurant in London that pre-dates the sinking of the Titanic, but The Georgian in Harrods is one such establishment.
Originally opened in May 1911, it was declared ‘the largest restaurant in London’ by a newspaper at the time, with its sweeping Main Restaurant accommodating up to 1,200 diners. Named in honour of the newly crowned King George V, The Georgian has undergone several refurbishments in its 115-year history, including an Art Deco makeover in 1928 and the most recent in 2024 to restore it to this Roaring Twenties glory.
Afternoon tea here is a daily tradition, complete with a live pianist. It is taken under the glittering crystal chandeliers in the restaurant or the elegant terrace area. While it may be a quintessentially British affair, The Georgian is currently honouring Lunar New Year with a limited-edition Spring Afternoon Tea menu.
Available until 3 March and priced at £82 per person, the menu infuses classic and contemporary Chinese flavours in inventive dishes. These include shiso-leaf-wrapped crispy duck with hoisin, and black sesame and raspberry breton.
The accompanying tea menu naturally showcases luxury blends from China, including Lapsang Souchong (smoked black tea) from Fujian province and Gunpowder Supreme green tea from Zhejiang province. Whether you’re celebrating Lunar New Year or simply want to try something a little different, The Georgian’s new Spring Festival Afternoon Tea is a treat not to be missed.
Elsewhere, the luxury department store has launched a cinematic creative campaign starring Chinese entrepreneur, philanthropist and fashion icon Laurinda Ho, who reflects on her own history living and studying in the UK.
