From traditional Chilean dishes to quintessentially British canapés and cocktails, the luxury five-star hotel introduces two exciting new dining ventures this spring
New culinary delights at Mandarin Oriental
Spring is a time for ushering in the new and Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park London is shaking things up with not one but two new launches this month.
First up is something completely different in the form of Lucho at The Rosebery. This brand-new culinary concept brings a taste of Latin America to Knightsbridge, devised by executive chef Francisco “Cisco” Hernandez. The new eatery pays homage to Cisco’s beloved grandfather Luis, known as “Lucho”, who owned a small grocery store in Chile and was renowned for his lively social gatherings. As such, each dish at Lucho is a testament to the love and passion for food that has been passed down through the generations.
Discover unique, traditional and playful dishes, such as delicious empanadas, fresh seafood, baked fish (a favourite dish of abuelo Lucho) and churros con manjar, a type of Chilean sweet sauce. Some dishes have a quintessentially British twist, such as the British seafood tiradito – a twist on classic ceviche – featuring hand-dived scallops and Dorset crab. As well as a fine selection of wines from South America, diners are encouraged to unwind with a Cisco Sour cocktail or a glass of punch from the ponchera.
Elsewhere, the hotel’s verdant Hyde Park Garden has just opened up for the season. Throughout spring and summer, visitors can unwind in the secluded spot, with views across Hyde Park, and a menu designed by the team at the two Michelin-starred Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. The menu takes inspiration from British produce and botanicals, with elegant salads, sandwiches and sharing plates such as British charcuterie and Porthilly oysters. The drinks list, meanwhile, is a celebration of English sparkling wines alongside creative cocktails. Cheers to the arrival of the new season.
