Mandarin Oriental introduce their new Hyde Park Garden
The Mediterranean may have warmer weather guaranteed but, on a glorious summer’s day, there’s no better place to be than London. This summer, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London has launched the brand-new Hyde Park Garden, a tranquil and pastoral space where visitors can find a moment of calm away from the hustle and bustle of Knightsbridge.
Open from 12-9pm daily, the Hyde Park Garden has been cleverly designed to reflect views of the neighbouring Royal Park in a secluded green space. The natural theme also trickles down to the food and drink offering, exclusive to garden visitors. English wines take centre stage, with award-winning drops from the likes of Sussex’s Rathfinny Estate and Simpsons Wine Estate in Kent. Mandarin Oriental’s mixologists have created complementary spritzes and cocktails, specially engineered to be full of the joys of summer and include the Rose Garden and Rosemary Margarita. Unsurprisingly, the team at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal have risen to the challenge of creating a nature-inspired menu by shining a spotlight on botanicals that are indigenous to the UK. Highlights include a pea & ham hock salad with mustard and mint, and native lobster with pickled lemon. A new Boards & Bubbles menu pairs English sparkling wines with cheese, charcuterie, Gentleman’s Relish and Ploughman’s boards.
Even the tableware has been carefully considered to suit the new space, with ceramics designed by Reiko Kaneko that incorporate floral motifs taken directly from Hyde Park alongside matching linen napkins and cushions. And on chillier days, guests can get cosy with cashmere shawls supplied by heritage British brand N.Peal.
Also new for the season is ‘Summer Sessions’, a series of events from Mandarin Oriental hosted in the Hyde Park Garden. This starts with an exclusive ‘Meet the Makers’ event coinciding with English Wine Week (17-25 June). Here, you can learn more about English vineyards and producers by speaking to the owners and founders of the Rathfinny, Simpsons and Gusbourne wine estates. And, of course, you will get to try some of their finest fizz over a three-course set menu courtesy of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. Later, on 15 July, sign up to the fun and indulgent Lobster & Chips Feast, hosted by Rathfinny Wine Estate.
The Hyde Park Garden at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London is open daily until September 2023. Visit here to book the Meet The Makers & Celebrate English Wines event (£175pp) and here to book your spot at the Lobster & Chips Feast (£350 for two guests).
