Dr Motox features in Channel 4’s latest series Surgery Secrets of the Super Rich
“You will only notice bad work,” says Dr Motox, now located in a prime spot on the newly revamped Fourth Floor at Harvey Nichols. “You will never, ever notice good work. That’s the message.” His goal is that no one will have any idea anything was done. You will simply look fresher. A better version of yourself.
His route to Knightsbridge is something we discuss. He trained as a dentist at Cardiff University before moving into a Head and Neck oral and maxillofacial unit, where he used Botox therapeutically: for patients with head and neck cancers, facial reconstruction, migraines, teeth-clenching. “I was injecting Botox medically long before I ever did it cosmetically,” he says. Dr Motox still works in NHS dentistry alongside the clinic.
He began his namesake brand eleven years ago, starting with friends and family. Then the Made in Chelsea crowd found him and it “went wild”. The name itself is a neat combination of his first name and the treatment he became known for, which was suggested by a friend.
The move to Knightsbridge was a deliberate step away from Harley Street, where he had previously been based. “Harley Street has a name, but anyone can hire a room there,” he says. “It has become saturated with bad practice and cheap work. Knightsbridge is a different thing entirely.”
His client list reflects the full range of what the word ’aesthetics’ can mean. At one end: the subtle tweakment regulars he sees every three months. At the other: drag performers, including alumni of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, who come to him for dramatic, intentionally visible transformation. Super-high cheekbones. Hyper-feminine structure. Work designed to perform under stage lighting, not to pass unnoticed in a restaurant. “They’ve had the conversation. They know the risks.” The line he draws is not about subtlety; it’s about informed consent.
We move on to the subject of what’s coming in the world of aesthetics. The clinic is adding a blood-testing service – walk-in, full bloods, results within twenty-four hours – and will be bringing in dermatologists. Prevention, he argues, is where private medicine’s real value lies, and he thinks Knightsbridge has almost no one offering it properly.
Further out, he is watching the peptide space closely. Copper peptides for skin and hair, newer GLP-1 variants that he says build on the Ozempic effect without the muscle loss. “Everyone is going to be looking younger,” he says. “When it becomes regulated and properly purified, it’s going to be a game changer.”
